Superkomputer w Świerku

Na terenie Instytutu Problemów Jądrowych wkrótce powstanie duży ośrodek obliczeniowy – Centrum Informatyczne w Świerku (CIŚ). Jego wybudowanie i uruchomienie będzie kosztowało niemal 98 mln złotych. Projekt jest współfinansowany ze środków Unii Europejskiej w ramach Europejskiego Funduszu Rozwoju Regionalnego.

Nuclear reactor analyses to ensure the reliability of Polish nuclear power plants

A recently established team of experts at the Institute for Nuclear Studies (IPJ) in Świerk near Warsaw, Poland is to run computer simulations of the operation of nuclear power plants. The aim of the team is to deepen the understanding of the processes that occur at every stage of the operation of atomic power plants and to train a team of specialists who will ensure the safe operation of future nuclear installations in Poland.

The Japanese train Polish experts in the field of nuclear safety analyses

A three-day seminar held in Poland welcomed analysts from the Japan Nuclear Energy Safety Organization (JNES). The seminar was organized by the Świerk Computing Centre (CIŚ) operating within the Institute for Nuclear Studies. The Japanese guests shared their knowledge of numerical codes which allow to simulate the operation of the most advanced nuclear installations and to analyze potential hazards in emergency situations.

Physicists and computer scientists urgently needed

January saw the beginning of the recruitment of new staff to the Świerk Computing Centre (CIŚ) operating within the Andrzej Sołtan Institute for Nuclear Studies. Interesting work awaits several dozen of computer scientists, engineers and scientists – mostly physicists but also specialists in other fields of exact and social sciences. It will be one of the largest one-time recruitment campaigns at the interface of science and computer science in Poland.
